Personal History
Greg Moran is a multi award winning writer, director & Producer. Time permitting Greg Moran is also a corporate and motivational speaker. He has also been a painter, winery manager, counsellor, and an award winning comedian..
Greg shares his journey with great humour and humility and shows that a disability is not an impediment to living a happy, productive and fulfilling life.
Greg broke his neck playing Rugby at St Ignatius College in 1983 at the age of 15 becoming a C3/4 quadriplegic which meant that he had little movement or sensation below his shoulders. He spent five months in Royal North Shore hospital before returning to school in an electric wheelchair to complete his HSC.
Greg then went on to Sydney University where he completed his Arts degree majoring in English & Fine Arts.
After graduating from Uni in 1992 Greg knew that he wanted to pursue a career in writing and painting so he joined the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists and began writing screenplays and short films.
In 1999 Greg moved to Murrumbateman to manage Doonkuna Estate, a family winery, and married Lynda Mills.
In 1999 Greg wrote and directed his first short film Begging For It.
In 2000 greg resigned from the MFPA due to too many other work commitments.
In 2001 Greg wrote, Directed and acted in his second short film 'Backtalk'
In 2002 Greg completed his Winemaking Diploma at Charles Stuart University in Wagga.
In 2003 Greg and Lynda divorced and both moved back to Sydney. Despite their separation they remain close friends.
Greg then went on an personal emotional journey of discovery doing lots of group and one on one therapy and eventually became a qualified counsellor. completing courses in hypnotherapy, E.M.D.R, NLP, Gestalt,, and Group Therapy.
In 2005 Greg setup 'The Sanctuary' in Lane cove with his new partner Dr Roby Abeles to run group and individual therapy sessions.
In 2008 Greg and Roby dissolved their partnership.
Greg decided to share his experiences with others on a larger stage and began motivational speaking. he also returned to his first love of script writing.and filmmaking.
2009 - 2010 Greg helped develop and produce the children's television program Spit It Out with Tumble TV and the Seven Network. They made two series with 65 episodes in each series.
Greg later became a certified trainer in NLP (neurolinguistic programming) and returned to studying at the Australian Film Television and Radio School completing various short courses and advanced diplomas in Screenwriting and Script Editing for film and television.
In 2016 Greg became a stand-up/sit down comedian and won the comedy court super grand final. Greg still performs when time permits.
As well as working on his own projects Greg also works as a freelance writer, director and producer.
In 2021 Greg wrote, directed, produced and acted in Culicidae.
In 2022 Greg wrote, directed & produced White Lies.
Greg currently lives and works with his life partner Lisa in Lane Cove in Sydney.
